General information on the Advant Controller 31 system
The AC31 system includes the 40, 50, and 90 series. This operating guide focuses on the 40 and 50 series, while documentation for the 90 series can be found in the AC31 system description (order number 1SAC 1316 99 R0201). Thanks to its high modularity, AC31 caters to both beginners and advanced users, offering scalable solutions with 14 to 1000 inputs and outputs. Whether for a compact machine with basic automation functions or large installations spanning hundreds or even thousands of meters, AC31 can be customized to meet diverse requirements.
The system enables the implementation of distributed applications across an entire site, workshop, or machine. Components like input/output units and the basic unit can be located near sensors and actuators, while the entire installation is connected via a single twisted pair cable. This cable transmits processed sensor data to the actuators through decentralized intelligent units.
To further extend the AC31's capabilities and facilitate integration with other automation systems, several communication interfaces are available, including MODBUS® ASCII, ARCNET, RCOM, and AF100. Ongoing developments in this area continue to enhance its versatility and connectivity.
