CENTUM VP system Introduction

CENTUM VP is an integrated production control system that manages and controls the operation of plants in a wide variety of industries, including petroleum refineries, chemical, steel, food,power, and so forth. 

This manual (System Overview (HMI Overview)) provides a simple overview of the HIS (Human Interface Station) of CENTUM VP HMI (Human Machine Interface). Before reading this manual,first read the separate System Overview (General Overview) manual to understand the overview of the CENTUM VP, and then read this manual. After that, proceed to detailed material, such as General Specifications.

Ensuring High Availability and Reliability

Yokogawa's CENTUM series achieves continuous availability with reliability through a dualredundant design, online maintenance capability features. FCS processor module, power supply, I/O modules, and I/O networks are all dual redundant. Active and stand-by processor modules work in synchronization: even if a failure occurs, control switches over seamlessly to stand-by module facilitates uninterrupted FCS availability. Failed modules can be replaced online, ensuring that even a hardware failure will not interrupt plant operation.

Field Control Station (CENTUM VP)

The I/O Modules include Analog I/O Modules, Digital I/O Modules and Communication Modules. There are several types of Analog I/O Modules, including the isolated channel type, isolated type and non-isolated type.

In addition, to enable replacements from CENTUM VP, CENTUM-XL and µXL compatible modules are provided so that the system cable from the Signal Conditioner can be connected to these compatible modules.

For the I/O Modules, the environment-proof support (temperature environment support, G3 support) options can bespecified.
