IC697PWR710 Functional Description
The IC697PWR710 is a power supply module designed for use with the GE Fanuc Series 90-70 PLC system. This module is installed on the baseplate of the Series 90-70 platform, providing essential backplane power to energize the modules connected to it. Operating with an external AC or DC power source, the IC697PWR710 power supply module supports a wide input range of 90-264 VAC at 47-63 Hz or 100-150 VDC. The module has a maximum input power of 90 Watts under full load, with a typical inrush current of 3 Amperes, and a power factor greater than 0.95.
With a nominal output voltage of 5.1 VDC and an output voltage range of 4.90-5.25 VDC, the IC697PWR710 power supply module delivers up to 56 Watts of output power. The module is equipped with integral overvoltage protection, clamping the output to 6.2 Volts, and overcurrent protection, limiting the current to 12 Amperes. These features prevent damage to the system by controlling excessive voltage and current. Furthermore, the IC697PWR710 power supply module includes a 21 ms ride-through time in case of AC input loss, ensuring stability during short power interruptions.
This power supply module also incorporates active power factor correction to maintain efficient power usage, which reduces the need for oversized circuit breakers and wiring. The IC697PWR710 power supply module is designed with noise immunity in mind and includes a dedicated ground terminal, which should be connected to the functional earth ground using AWG #12 or 3.3 mm² wire. It is installed in the leftmost slot of any standard IC697 rack or VME integrator rack, offering flexibility in system configuration.
The IC697PWR710 power supply module provides a reliable and secure power solution, ensuring that the Series 90-70 PLC system operates smoothly under various conditions.

Series 90-70 PLC
With our CPX family of CPUs, the Series 90-70 offers more for your automation dollar—more computing power, more memory for your applications, and more communications and redundancy capabilities. And it provides increased flexibility for a variety of applications due to a wide range of isolated and high-density VME analog I/O modules.
Open Architecture
Based on the VME-bus standard, the Series 90-70 can be used with thousands of boards produced by hundreds of different manufacturers to build a solution that meets your exact needs. These include links to drives and drive systems, servo motor controllers, embedded solutions for vision systems and bus-to-bus interface modules, as well as a variety of modules available from GE (see accompanying table).
Various Degrees of Redundancy
Combining the Series 90-70 with the advanced functionality of Genius* I/O, GE Genius Modular Redundancy (GMR) systems and Hot Standby systems can provide as much or as little redundancy as you need for your critical applications.
• The versatility and strength of the GMR system make it an ideal choice for rigorous emergency shutdown and human life protection systems. It has a class 6 TÜV rating.
• Based on three isolated PLCs and extensive diagnostics, the GMR triple modular redundancy system uses two-out-of-three voting to provide high reliability and errorfree operation.
• CPU Genius Redundancy (CGR) systems achieve enhanced hot standby CPU redundancy by connecting two power supplies and two CGR CPUs to one or more Genius I/O networks.
