IC698RMX016 Functional Description
The IC698RMX016 Redundancy Memory Exchange (RMX) Module is a critical component in the PACSystem RX7i series, acting as a Redundancy Memory Exchange (RMX) Module. It facilitates high-reliability data exchange by serving as a node in the reflective memory network, enabling communication between the Central Processing Unit (CPU) modules in redundant configurations. This is essential for high-availability applications where continuous operation is vital. The IC698RMX016 Redundancy Memory Exchange (RMX) Module is typically installed in Rack 3 or 4 of the RX7i backplane for optimal interrupt priority, although it is compatible with other slots as well.
Equipped with 16 MB of Static Dynamic Random Access Memory (SDRAM), the IC698RMX016 Redundancy Memory Exchange (RMX) Module operates on a 5 VDC power supply, drawing 1.8 Amps from the backplane. Its compact design measures 6.299" in width and 9.187" in height. The module supports up to 256 nodes in a network, with dynamic packet sizes ranging from 4 to 64 bytes for efficient data transfer. It features an LC-type fiber optic connector, conforming to IEC 61754-20 standards, ensuring minimal signal loss with a maximum insertion loss of 0.35 dB and a return loss of -30 dB.
For redundancy configurations, the IC698RMX016 Redundancy Memory Exchange (RMX) Module automatically receives its parameters from the host RX7i CPU, eliminating the need for manual configuration. The module operates within a temperature range of -20°C to 85°C and includes LED indicators and a toggle switch for role switching, helping prevent accidental activations. It requires PACSystem firmware version 2.00 for installation and utilizes Logic Developer PC software for programming. The IC698RMX016 Redundancy Memory Exchange (RMX) Module is an essential module for ensuring robust, high-speed communication and redundancy in PACSystem applications, leveraging advanced fiber optic technology for reliable data transfer.
