IC698CPE020 Functional Description
The IC698CPE020 is a rack-mount Central Processing Unit (CPU) module within the PACSystem RX7i Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) platform, developed by Emerson Automation, which was formerly part of GE Intelligent Platforms (GE IP). This CPU is primarily designed to process user programs and manage the actuation of connected electrical loads in industrial automation systems.
Equipped with a 700 MHz Pentium III microprocessor, the IC698CPE020 Central processing Module offers impressive performance for real-time control applications. It includes 10 MB of user memory and 10 MB of non-volatile flash memory. The CPU supports up to 32K bits for discrete I/O and up to 32K words for both analog input (%AI) and output (%AQ) data. Users can download up to 512 program blocks, with each block supporting a maximum size of 128 KB.
The IC698CPE020 Central processing Module features dual Ethernet ports, capable of 10/100 Mbps transmission speeds. These ports are compatible with Ethernet Global Data (EGD), Modbus/TCP, TCP/IP, and SRTP communication protocols. The Ethernet ports also serve as the primary interface for programming and system configuration. In addition to Ethernet, the IC698CPE020 is equipped with three isolated serial ports, supporting RS232 and RS485 standards for data communication with Modbus RTU, SNP, and serial I/O devices.
As part of the RX7i platform, the IC698CPE020 Central processing Module leverages the VME64 architecture, providing high-speed data throughput and support for a wide range of embedded technologies. With built-in support for both floating-point math and Boolean functions, this CPU can be programmed using various languages such as Ladder Diagram, Function Block Diagram, Structured Text, and C. It also integrates data monitoring features, supports up to 16 concurrent Web server and FTP connections, and can synchronize time with CPU release 5.0 or later.
The IC698CPE020 Central processing Module is configured using Proficy Machine Edition Logic Developer PLC software, version 4.0 or later, ensuring streamlined programming and configuration for industrial applications.

Rack-based and RX7i Embedded Interfaces - Features
The RX3i CPE302/CPE305/CPE310/CPE330/CPE400/CPL410 and RSTi-EP CPE100/CPE115 embedded Ethernet interface supports a subset of these features.
