IC200PBI001 Functional Description

The IC200PBI001 is a Versamax Network Interface Unit (NIU) by GE Fanuc, designed to control I/O modules. The unit is powered by a power supply installed directly on it, drawing 250 milliamps from the 5V bus and 10 milliamps from the 3.3V bus. A single network unit can support up to 64 I/O modules and can be expanded using additional expansion racks.

Supporting the Profibus communication protocol, the IC200PBI001-BD Profinet Network Interface Unit comes with a network address range from 1 to 125, with a data rate range from 9.6 Kbaud to 12 Mbaud. The data rate is automatically detected by the NIU. It offers 5 bytes of user diagnostic data memory and includes 4 LED indicators on the front panel, which display the power, health, fault, and network status, along with a Force LED.

The firmware of the IC200PBI001-CF New GE Fanuc Emerson can be easily updated. During the update process, the controller must be switched to stop mode, and the network cable must be disconnected from the NIU. This device can handle up to 375 bytes of I/O data at once. The front panel includes a rotary switch for selecting network addresses within the 1-125 range, which can be adjusted using a flat screwdriver.

Installing the IC200PBI001-KG Profibus-DP Network Interface Unit (NIU) is straightforward, as it simply clicks onto a DIN rail. The power supply is connected via a latch, and the connectors must be aligned and clicked into place. The unit supports up to 32 stations without using repeaters and is equipped with a 9-pin D-sub connector.

VersaMax Micro, Micro PLUS and Nano PLC Models

Introduction

Versions of these compact, powerful controllers are available for AC and DC power, and with several different combinations of discrete and analog input and output points. This chapter compares the features of the many VersaMax Nano, Micro and Micro PLUS PLC models that are available. Micro PLUS 20/40/64 CPUs have enhanced memory compared to earlier versions of these CPUs. Firmware versions 4.00 and later cannot be used with the earlier hardware versions.

The VersaMax® PLC family of products includes a broad range of small-size programmable logic controllers (PLCs) with big-PLC features. The VersaMax family includes Nano PLCs (10 points), Micro PLCs (up to 176 I/O points), and Micro PLUS PLCs (up to 320 I/O points) using optional Expansion Units. These small PLCs are the perfect solution for applications such as packaging machines, dispensing machines, and relay replacement.

Changes to the program that do not modify the size of the program are considered wordfor-word changes. Examples include changing the type of contact or coil or changing a reference address used for an existing function block. Changing an operand is usually a word-for-word change. A word-for-word change can be made and downloaded to the PLC while online in programmer mode without having to download the entire block of logic.
