IC697ALG320 Functional Description
The IC697ALG320 is a high-performance 4-channel analog output module designed for use with the GE Fanuc Series 90-70 Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). Unlike Emerson Automation, GE Fanuc originally manufactured this module. It occupies a single slot in a 5-slot or 10-slot baseplate, drawing a maximum of 1.66A (8.3 Watts) at 5VDC and 150mA from the user power supply. The IC697ALG320 high-performance 4-channel analog output module is capable of outputting both voltage and current signals, specifically 0-20 mA or 4-20 mA for current output, and ±10VDC for voltage output. Each of its four output channels is individually configurable, allowing users to set the module for either current or voltage operation.
The IC697ALG320 high-performance 4-channel analog output module features a 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with high resolution—312.5 microvolts per LSB step for voltage and 0.5 microamps per LSB step for current outputs. It operates with a maximum conversion rate of 2.0 milliseconds for all output channels. The module is factory calibrated, and its calibration data is stored in non-volatile EEPROM memory. Additionally, it supports diagnostic features such as overrange, underrange, and open-wire detection, as well as configuration and module health monitoring.
For voltage operation, the IC697ALG320 high-performance 4-channel analog output module supports resistive loads of up to 2000 ohms and capacitive loads up to 1000 picofarads. In current operation, it supports up to 700 ohms for resistive loads, 1.0 microfarad for capacitive loads, and 250 milliHenry for inductive loads. The module's accuracy is temperature-dependent, with a coefficient of 25 PPM per degree Celsius for voltage and 50 PPM per degree Celsius for current.
Ideal for industrial applications, the IC697ALG320 high-performance 4-channel analog output module allows users to connect up to seven units in a CPU rack and eight in an expansion rack, enabling scalable solutions with up to 252 output channels. The configuration software enables output range selection, user scaling, and fault reporting, making this module versatile for various control and automation needs.

Series 90-70 PLC
With our CPX family of CPUs, the Series 90-70 offers more for your automation dollar—more computing power, more memory for your applications, and more communications and redundancy capabilities. And it provides increased flexibility for a variety of applications due to a wide range of isolated and high-density VME analog I/O modules.
Open Architecture
Based on the VME-bus standard, the Series 90-70 can be used with thousands of boards produced by hundreds of different manufacturers to build a solution that meets your exact needs. These include links to drives and drive systems, servo motor controllers, embedded solutions for vision systems and bus-to-bus interface modules, as well as a variety of modules available from GE (see accompanying table).
Various Degrees of Redundancy
Combining the Series 90-70 with the advanced functionality of Genius* I/O, GE Genius Modular Redundancy (GMR) systems and Hot Standby systems can provide as much or as little redundancy as you need for your critical applications.
• The versatility and strength of the GMR system make it an ideal choice for rigorous emergency shutdown and human life protection systems. It has a class 6 TÜV rating.
• Based on three isolated PLCs and extensive diagnostics, the GMR triple modular redundancy system uses two-out-of-three voting to provide high reliability and errorfree operation.
• CPU Genius Redundancy (CGR) systems achieve enhanced hot standby CPU redundancy by connecting two power supplies and two CGR CPUs to one or more Genius I/O networks.
