IC697MDL350 Functional Description
The IC697MDL350 is a discrete output module from GE Fanuc, part of the Series 90-70 product line. Operating at 120 Volts AC, it delivers 0.5 Amps of current for each of its 32 output points, divided into four groups of eight points. This configuration allows each group to be powered by a different AC supply phase, and each group is protected by a 5 Amp fuse. A key feature of the IC697MDL350 discrete output module is its high inrush current capacity, approximately 20 times the rated current, making it ideal for inductive loads like solenoids, motor starters, and indicators.
This output module includes LED indicators that display the on/off status of each output point on the PLC side. There’s also an LED that monitors the fuse status, which is located on the module’s top side. The IC697MDL350 discrete output module is designed for easy replacement, as it is mechanically keyed to ensure compatibility with other modules in the same series.
In terms of configuration, the IC697MDL350 discrete output module can be set up without the need for jumpers or DIP switches. Configuration is done through MS-DOS or Windows programming software on Windows 95/NT systems, connecting via SNP or Ethernet TCP/IP ports. This module is pre-configured for use with these programming systems. With its reliable current rating of 0.5 Amps per output point, the IC697MDL350 discrete output module is suitable for various applications and offers heat dissipation to manage the current in high-temperature conditions.

Series 90-70 PLC
With our CPX family of CPUs, the Series 90-70 offers more for your automation dollar—more computing power, more memory for your applications, and more communications and redundancy capabilities. And it provides increased flexibility for a variety of applications due to a wide range of isolated and high-density VME analog I/O modules.
Open Architecture
Based on the VME-bus standard, the Series 90-70 can be used with thousands of boards produced by hundreds of different manufacturers to build a solution that meets your exact needs. These include links to drives and drive systems, servo motor controllers, embedded solutions for vision systems and bus-to-bus interface modules, as well as a variety of modules available from GE (see accompanying table).
Various Degrees of Redundancy
Combining the Series 90-70 with the advanced functionality of Genius* I/O, GE Genius Modular Redundancy (GMR) systems and Hot Standby systems can provide as much or as little redundancy as you need for your critical applications.
• The versatility and strength of the GMR system make it an ideal choice for rigorous emergency shutdown and human life protection systems. It has a class 6 TÜV rating.
• Based on three isolated PLCs and extensive diagnostics, the GMR triple modular redundancy system uses two-out-of-three voting to provide high reliability and errorfree operation.
• CPU Genius Redundancy (CGR) systems achieve enhanced hot standby CPU redundancy by connecting two power supplies and two CGR CPUs to one or more Genius I/O networks.
